Professor Denise Fort of the UNM School of Law, and Marilyn O'Leary, Director of the Utton Center, worked with the Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law Section of the New Mexico State Bar in putting on the Continuing Legal Education program, Climate Change Impacts, Laws and Policies on December 15, 2006. Professor Fort shared the platform with Dr. Larry Rasmussen, author of Earth Community, Earth Ethics, to present the ethics portion of the program. Congressman Tom Udall gave the keynote presentation and Dean Suellyn Scarnecchia gave a presentation titled "I call it climate change, you call it global warming. How to represent clients on climate change issues and maintain your professional demeanor and civility." Representatives from both Senator Pete Domenici's and Senator Jeff Bingaman's energy staff were on the panel on governmental initiatives. Outgoing chair of the Section Kyle Harwood and incoming chair Steve Hattenbach helped to organize the conference and were on the program.

The presentation given by Dr. Larry Rasmussen is attached. (Click for PDF)
