"Federal Water Policy - Does New Mexico Have a Partner in Addressing its Challenges?"

On Monday, November 5th, the Utton Center and the Natural Resources & Environmental Law Program at UNM School of Law, in cooperation with the Natural Resources, Energy and Environment Section of the NM State Bar welcomed Michael Connor, WilmerHale Partner and Former Deputy Secretary US Department of Interior to give a Continuing Legal Education lecture entitled, "Federal Water Policy - Does New Mexico Have a Partner in Addressing its Challenges?"

In this lecture, Mr. Connor focused on the current federal water challenges that face New Mexico, including Texas v. NM, the Endangered Species Act, Indian water rights settlements, and climate change.

About the Speaker

Michael Connor is a partner with the law firm of WilmerHale in Washington, D.C. His practice focuses on natural resources, energy development, environmental compliance, and Native American law. Mr. Connor previously served as Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior, addressing some of the most complex natural resource issues facing federal agencies across the nation. He was Commissioner of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation from 2009-2014.
