Utton Center hosts Screening and Panel for documentary, Requiem for a River with New Mexico Wild
August 2, 2024 - Sairis Perez-Gomez
This past week, the Utton Transboundary Resources Center hosted a screening of Requiem for a River by Mary Patierno at the UNM Law School, for New Mexico Wild. The documentary shares the stories and perspectives of various water users and stakeholders along the Rio Grande and other bodies of water, manmade or natural, in New Mexico. Water serves as a life source in the desert, and the documentary explores its role in the face of climate change and in the importance of cultural traditions.
Following the documentary, Aidan Manning of New Mexico Wild moderated a panel consisting of Sara Fox of the Interstate Stream Commission, Rin Tara of the Utton Center, and Diane Agnew of the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority. The conversation focused on the need to engage with and uplift the voices of community members through participation in the New Mexico Interstate Stream Commission's regional water planning process.
The Utton Transboundary Resources Center is always proud to work alongside groups in New Mexico researching and educating both local and transboundary communities on water issues.
